Re-elect Katie
Williams
Always prepared, always listening. Dedicated to putting residents first and protecting the character of Farr West.

My name is Katie....

...And I'm running for re-election to continue to use my voice for my community.
I'm running for re-election because I care deeply about Farr West. As a mom and advocate for smart growth, I believe we can preserve the character of our town while planning for the next generation.
My approach is grounded in transparency, listening and understanding residents, and making decisions that reflect our shared values.
I want every voice- especially those that haven't always been heard- to have a seat at the table. I'm commited to helping shape a thriving community for all residents.
Priorities & Accomplishments
Over the past four years, I've dedicated myself to advocating for residents and leading with transparency.
Here are the priorities and accomplishments I'm most passionate about:

Affordable Housing
The State of Utah has implemented- and continues to expand- aggressive mandates on affordable housing that impact every city, including Farr West. Over the past four years, I have worked closely with the Mayor and City Council to craft housing strategies that meet state requirements while preserving the character and values of our community. I’ve consistently supported housing solutions that allow residents to stay in Farr West through every stage of life—whether starting out, raising a family, or retiring—without compromising what makes our city unique. As your representative, I will continue to push for Farr West’s right to guide its own housing future in a way that reflects local priorities, not one-size-fits-all policies from the State.
Safe Mobility and Infrastructure
Safe mobility means making it easy and safe for everyone—whether walking, biking, driving, or using other modes of transportation—to get where they need to go. For me, that starts with our kids. Every student should be able to walk or bike to school without parents worrying about their safety. That’s why I’m committed to investing in safe routes to school, building and connecting trails, and making active transportation a real priority in Farr West. I led the effort to restart our Active Transportation Committee and continue to grow it into a driving force for safer streets and better connectivity across our city. I’ve also supported the important work of our Traffic Committee to identify problem areas and put solutions in place. Safe mobility isn’t a luxury, it’s a responsibility—and ensuring our children can navigate safely to school is one of the most important investments we can make in our future.

Parks and Open Space
Parks and open spaces are where neighbors connect, families gather, and community bonds grow stronger. Farr West is fortunate to have wonderful spaces like Smith Family Park and Mountain View Park, but we need a clear, strategic path toward our goal of providing 10 acres of park per 1,000 residents and ensuring every citizen has a park within a half-mile walk of their home. Recently, I secured $60,000 in funding to create a Parks Master Plan—an essential blueprint that will identify the locations, sizes and amenities that will best serve our community for decades to come. During my time on the council, I’ve been a dedicated advocate for parks, championing projects like the funding and replacement of the Mountain View Park playground. In my next term, I will continue to make the development of Meadows Park (2700 North) a top priority. This parcel of land was donated to the city in 2000 with the intent of becoming a park, yet this property has remained vacant for 25 years—it’s time to fulfill that vision and transform it into a regionally significant recreation destination for all to enjoy.
Planning For Our Future
Great communities don’t just happen—they’re planned. Farr West’s General Plan is outdated and missing the vision and detail we need to guide our future. It lacks realistic growth projections, clear strategies, and the connection between land use, housing, parks, and transportation that strong cities rely on. As your councilmember, I will fight to bring in the expertise we need to update our plan. This will ensure it becomes a true guiding document- one that provides a clear, thoughtful framework for the future of our city.
